What about me?

Born in 1982, February 2nd to be exact, in a little village in the north of Sweden. My mother's a teacher in mathematics and science, also fairly good at computers, my father works with safety issues. Computer illiterate. Among my fondest memories from being a kid is my father yelling at the top of his lungs: "Marie!", and when I got to the room, he wanted me to program the VCR. This happened a few times after I had already gone to sleep, too...

Nowadays I live in Uppsala, Sweden. For WtA-interested, that's where the Get of Fenris had a large moot in 1999. But more about that in a little bit. What I do in Uppsala is study; I'm working on a degree in mathematics and computers. Last year I studied rhetorics, though, which was a blast. Anyways, I've got a paper saying that I can program Java, I've also taken a course in "Internet Programming", which was a little bit of Java, some PHP, a little bit of JSP, JavaScript and JavaBeans, and some MySQL, all though that's not my area of expertise. I've worked a lot with ASP and the last few years: ASP.NET, with SQL connecting to Access databases. I know that Access isn't exactly the best of databases, but it's what I've had the ability to work with, since my webhotels have been odd.

My hobbies? Well, apart from the whole "making pages" bit, I roleplay a lot, mainly on White Wolf Unmoderated, but also Immortal Vigilance and Discover Altamont. The system is White Wolf's old World of Darkness, where my favourites have to be Werewolf: the Apocalypse and Mage: the Ascension, both of which I've been a Storyteller for in Necropolis Chronicle. I've figured out that I joined Unmods almost four years ago now, and I've still got a couple of characters left from that time, not to mention friends...

I read a lot, where my favourites are various fantasy books and mystery novels, where I can mention authors such as Terry Pratchett, Janet Evanovich, Mary Higgins Clark, Elizabeth Moon... While not a full list, it should give a few ideas. I also write, working on a novel set in a fantasy world about the girl Elyra, and hopefully it'll work out better than my first novel, which I haven't read in 5 years because I'm afraid of what I'd see. I was sixteen when I started writing it, so you can imagine the amount of weirdness in it.

Another favourite haunt of mine is the Discworld MUD, where my Melindrea MacPing is a priestess of Gapp, the God of Fine Clothing, also Secretary to the High Priestess of Gapp, Platy Pus. She used to be High Priestess herself, but that title is "for life", so when she accidentally died in Sto Lat, there was nothing more to do about it.

So, what else? Well, I'm going to the US in February of '06, for Vision Con, and also to meet Jon, who I've known for almost four years now. We play together as plenty of characters, and it's going to be fun. Going to spend Valentines Day there, and all though that's one commercialized holiday, I'm really looking forward to it this time, for some reason...
